SCANDAL IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AS CHRIST IS RESURRECTED. WILL HE SAVE THEM?

Catholics nuns seem not to respond to the calling as they did up to 1965 when there were 180,000 in the US and where there are only 60,000 today, many of whom are much older.  A 7/09 article by Laurie Goodstein for the NY Times wrote: " The Vatican is quietly conducting two sweeping investigations of American nuns, a development that has startled and dismayed nuns who fear they are the targets of a doctrinal inquisition...While some nuns say they are grateful that the Vatican is finally paying attention to their dwindling communities, many fear that the real motivation is to reel in American nuns who have reinterpreted their calling for the modern world.". Some of us, non-Catholics, remember friends who did not attend public school with us but went to Saint somebody's or other when nuns terrorized them, as they told it.

Pedophilic priests have done to the Catholic Churches what GW Bush did to the American financial system during his presidency.   Most distressing is that the Vatican spokesperson for the Pope who is written about in the NY Times in an article by Daniel J. Wakin and Rachel Donadio.

It is amazing that the claim is likening the attempt to get at the truth of the persecution of the Jews.  The spokesperson gets the job of pretending that the church can be trusted.  This man is putting the 'spin' on and playing the old game of refocusing. ('Lets' point to the Jews, whom lots of Catholics were traditionally trained to dislike, and deflect focus from our guilt', right?)

It is shameful that men who took oaths of celibacy were permitted to ruin the lives of young men and women...pain and dysfunction that would hold for many throughout their lives.

It would have pleased me if that this time of the calendar of Christianity, the Vatican could be honest but it sounds like they really think they are talking to and for God.  In my world that is called a delusion, not religion.
