ONCE IN A BLUE MOON

How many times have we heard people say, "Yeah. right!  It will take a blue moon to have it happen."  I never knew what a blue moon was until I could Google it to learn.  A blue moon is when there are two full moons in one month.  Last night we had a blue moon.

Ned Potter wrote about our recent blue moon. "Once in a blue moon, we get a night like this one. If the weather is clear, you will get to see the second full moon of the month or perhaps the fourth full moon of a three-month season -- or maybe an early "betrayer moon" (belewe in Old English) -- or any of half a dozen other definitions that have come up over the last 400 years. At any rate, the full moon of Aug. 31 has been agreed upon, somewhere, as a blue moon, and if you go out after dark, we hope you will enjoy its light.

Sometimes it takes longer to find out the answers to things about which you are curious.  I was in my mid-forties before I found out that not all yellow flowers were dandelions and not all red ones were roses. It is just chance that the Republican National Convention was over the day before we had that unusual natural even.  We had gone through one the day before with the convention.t

REPUBLICANS GET AN A FOR GREATEST PROMISES

Grover Norquist's puppet, aka Mitt Romney, vows to revive US 'promise'.  Being a political masochist, I have watched all the Re[publican debates I could and as much of the convention as possible.  Everyone that spoke talked about end results and promises to reach them but no one offered real process as just what would be done to get there.  I was like the kid who kept digging through the pile of manure on Xmas for the pony.

Steve Schmidt talked about the achievement of Romney being able to 'navigate' the progression from moderate to severe conservatism to wen the Republican nomination for President .  The man sure has a way with mealy mouthed words.

Rubio spoke after Clint Eastwood who may have been a good actor but whoever wrote this script did not do a good job.  Eastwood had an adequate delivery but what he said did not really belong at the RNC in Tampa.  Rubio gave a chest thumping shout and got lots of applause.  He also did not say how they would get there.

There you have it.  Three days worth of 'promises'. No road map to any way those promises could or would be fulfilled. Rubio pulled a Chris Christie and gave a campaign speech for his own future.

Romney's 'pep talk' bashing Obama and saying nothing about how he would run the country, was like those emails talking about Faith and goodness but no substance...the ones you want to delete before you throw something at the screen!. He told his verbal autobiography, not what he intended to do directly about creating jobs, paying off the National Debt which he says is so important to him,  His talk was like an empty State of the Union speech...I did was throughout with nothing about what I am going to do and this is how.

How sad, the Republicans were rewriting history as it was happening.

REPUBLICAN CONVENTION CONFIRMS THEY ARE A WHITE, MALE, RACIALLY PREJUDICED, WHO WANT US BACK A CENTURY

There is little question in my mind, if the Republicans could also take away women's right to vote as well as choice as to what they do with their bodies, it would have happened already.  When a black CNN camera woman has nuts thrown at her while the tossers yell, :This is how we feed animals" before they are taken out, it tells us a lot about how participants and delegates are chosen or choose their party.  Since I found this article on BBC News, \Ii can only imagine what the truly free world thinks of us.  Worse is what our fellow Americans think of us.  ALLMEDIANY wrote an article after BBC did and said that, while the RNC knows the identity of the throwers, they had agreed not to reveal their names.  It does make me wonder why BBC published it first and whether any American media would have written about it had BBC not done it first.  It is most interesting to me that is was not one of the major networks to report it

Actually, the website:  Crooks and Liars wrote about it 14 hours before the BBC who still seems to be the first major network to have noted the event.  Their admonishing was:  "Keep it classy, Republicans."

That the truth with opinion comes from The Backwater Gazette should be telling to any casual, moderate observer. This writer starts the statement with 'Grand Old Racist Party'.  It is not difficult to recognize why that term was applied to the current Republicans who have earned the title.

Ah, when will people start seeing the truth and not the lies?

WHY LIES OFTEN WORK

If the best defense is an offense(as is often written); the Republicans are golden and very 'offensive'.It was shocking to read the paranoid detonation circulated by them.  If they truly believe this is true, why have they waited four years to try to correct it?  As a psychotherapist for over six decades, I recognize when someone is projecting.  (Projection is a defense mechanism that involves taking our own unacceptable qualities or feelings and ascribing them to other people. For example, if you have a strong dislike for someone, you might instead believe that he or she does not like you. Projection works by allowing the expression of the desire or impulse, but in a way that the ego cannot recognize, therefore reducing anxiety. (for more on defense mechanisms, click here)

It seems a pretty sad state for a party to assume that the best strategy to convince people they should run the country is to lie about issues which are publicly well-documented and quite accessible on Google searches, disqualified by reputable sources, and highly advertised on TV. Robert Reich has an article on The Blog titled: How Romney Keeps Lying Through His Big White Teeth   You can reed the whole article by clicking here.

WHY DO REPUBLICANS KEEP SAYING THEY WANT SMALLER GOVERNMENT?

If, (God forbid! Spoken by this atheist) Romney were elected to the presidency and something happened to him, we would have  Paul Ryan as if Romney became President.and could no longer serve.  Frankly, having followed political quite faithfully for some time on TV, radio and Internet,   Todd Akin points out the stupidity of his combined thinking about women 'right to choose' with Paul Ryan.Their co-sponsored Bill to ban abortions to women who have suffered rape, incest or will die from the continued pregnancy.  They would see it better to leave a houseful of orphans than prevent an unwanted child to be born.  It is beyond me how they can talk out of one side of their mouth for a smaller government while making claims like this one.

Where is the justification?  If they are coming from a dictate of their religion, they are not following the Constitution.   If they are coming from personal values, what gives them a right to dictate to everyone?  They claim the Democrats are keeping them of issues like job creation, the economy, and more important issues but they keep sending bills to  voted which are all geared to diminishing the medical and physical rights of women rather than addressing any of the issues they claim to be wanting to focus on.  Why then are they absent from the list of bills submitted for mote?

If Romney loses after all the Republican cheating , lies, and attempts to limit voters getting to the polls, I wonder what all those donors to the Republican party for millions of dollars will feel  I guess they can chalk it up to just money they would have had to pay in taxes otherwise.

Will the Scalia Court (formerly known as the Roberts Court) have a painful conscience if the country falls apart when the Republicans turn the clock of progress back a century?

Grover Norquist
8/26/12 Sunday night on 60 Minutes  (Season 44 Episode 51) were shown the currently most influential man in America.  Please be patient. there are too many commercials you will have to wait through to get the whole story as it is, apparently, a repeat of what was on the TV.

Norquist is described as trying to be modest.  It is not modesty, he speaks of Grover Norquist is just one of the voters whom he has in his control.  I have been writing about the evil of what Norquist is doing to our country but naive voters have refused to believe that one man can become so powerful.  He is not alone.  Money has dictated our elections and the Supreme Court was either bought or talked into a very stupid decision.  Justice Scalia seems happy that he was able to convince other jurors to vote his way.

People, speak to everyone you know who may be able to listen to reason and talk them into seeing what this man represents. Norquist claims the idea he got to start the no raise taxes theme when he was 12 years old riding home on the school bus.  I plead with you to listen to Grover Norquist on this video.  He claims the pledge is not to him but to the voters whom he also controls with money to their competitors. He is a smooth con man.  Do yourself a favor if you missed 60 Minutes and listen to the whole video portion of that interview.

WE NO LONGER HAVE TO BE TOLD WHAT THE LOONIES SAY, WE CAN WATCH THEM PUT THEIR FOOT IN THEIR MOUTH ON VIDEO

Undoubtedly, there must always have been lots of misinformed, avid, strange and some just looney-tuned people out there in all sorts of presumably responsible positions who  show the reasons they should have no control over the lives of others.

John Laws wrote for CNN  about the judge Democrats are asking to resign because he said there will be civil war if Obama is elected to another term.  Watch this man on video  (he claims he was taken out of context but you will see him speaking for himself)

Perhaps it is more shocking today because we are able to see and hear these fools rather than assuming a journalist is negatively biased or misquoting as it was before TV.

The Washington Post has a video (be patient with the ads first) that talk about Todd Akin who, by his ignorance, clearly demonstrates why lawmakers should never be allowed to make decisions that are better handled between women and their doctors.  .If you can hang in there, a second video will follow that is equally interesting in its exposure to Paul Ryan which may be surprising to those who think the speaks honestly.

Watching Fox News and many pundits on all the News channels, one might think they try hard to present those they favor in a positive manner.  However, now that we see video of what was actually said, rather than the previous;y interpreted version squeezed through the 'news person's sphincter.'

Mitt Romney who likes to talk of his rivals as having negative campaigning should look in the ad mirror .He seems to enjoy calling his opponents 'simple minded'.  Now I must ask, listen to his unscripted campaign speech the other day in Michigan and tell me just who is the simple-minded candidate.
