To the both of you in your warm climates, I say you still can't beat New England for almost everything else (other than the snow and cold). We rarely get hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, forest fires that eat up houses, and all those horrible things one sees elsewhere. We don't have alligators, tarantulas or brown spiders and poisonous snakes. I like it here.
We had a very pleasant Christmas eve. I now realize that for the past 10 or so Christmas Eves I have spent them pleasantly in the kitchen, cooking. The goose this year was large, it took a couple of hours to trim and render the fat, finish butchering the bird so it fit in the pan, trim enough skin to make the sausage, make the sausage mix, stuff the sausage, cook the sausage in the bird fat, and all whilst entertaining house guests. Given how weird this December was for us here, it was nice to decompress for a half a hundred hours. Back into it tomorrow.
I really like cooking, and I miss it sometimes. These big projects are fun, especially with kids to help clean up.
I'm glad your Christmas was as pleasant. We had Boxing Day today, and it was pretty quiet, the house guests were all resting/sleeping/napping, the kids were subdued, I had a hangover and JE was puttering around.
It was "nice to talk you" yesterday too. We miss you.
