THE CONSEQUENCES OF VOTING AGAINST RATHER THAN FOR A KNOWN SOMETHING

The TeaPartiers sold lies to the public and under false promises were elected as a 'quick fix' to a problem that has no possible quick fix.  No matter how many times it is said that the economy had a surplus when Clinton left office and GW Bush took his whole two terms to spend with his Republican buddies either from stupidity, being duped by more evil forces, or a reason that has never been mentioned and is not clearly visible to those of us out of government or not economists.

A large group of freshman TeaPartiers promised to work on job creation and the budget. Adopting a policy of 'my way or the highway' they have sworn to make Obama a one term president, raise no new taxes, ignore all warnings from Federal economists, and have only pushed their own disparate agendas, mostly on religious and bigoted issues.

Boehner, speaker of the house, walked out in a gesture as immature as that of his colleague Eric Kantor. For more details, click here.

Like giving a child a privilege, they can't give it up[ even when all indication shows it is bad for them. They do not see that they couldn't handle what they had and resent it being taken away, forgetting it was a trial plam not a permanent one.

How long will the public tolerate elected officials who walk out of negotiations as though it is not a critical part of their job to negotiate and compromise.  It is my contention that the Republicans simply voted against the Democrats and bloated their numbers by adding the TeaPartiers who came in falsely by hanging onto their coat tails.in an attempt to legitimize themselves to get on the ballot when in fact, they are pretty much independent even of one another.

Other than the TeaPartiers, at least those of us whose head is not in the sand,  hope that enough of the House Members will realize that removing tax breaks from the wealthy is not ADDING new taxes.  Gtover Norqujist seemed a little slimy over that explanation.

US SUFFERS DEADLY, SPREADING HEAT WAVE

I've been trying to find ways to cool off during our hear wave.  So far I've been using the central air in the house which works, but costs as much as heating the house in the cold season.  One way to feel cooler is to watch the weather map of the US on BBC.   If you ignore that the numbers are in Celsius, pretending it is Fahrenheit, you can feel quite cool s the numbers would indicate it hovering at the freezing point.

Another way is to sit in a chair reading all day with a room fan on,a imed at your chest.

SUMMER CONCERT ON THE CITY COMMON

Many cities sponsor free summer concerts.  They might be anywhere and would probably look pretty much the same. The other night my city had a concert, featuring a wonderful band (not that pictured here).  Sitting behind people in folding chairs on the lawn in front of the bandstand one quickly realized the nearby audience were adults with special needs. Touching to me was the caring  in the way they looked after one another.  When one of the women had a seizure, a man next to her wanted to call the police.  A woman among them said, "No, I'll take care of it.  She doesn't need the cops or an ambulance."  Before we knew it an army of Fire Department personnel scooped her up on a stretcher and took care of her.  She was later seen strolling away from the Common with a woman friend who had been close to her.

When the band started to play, an equally fascinating show was put on by dancers.  In one corner, a matured  woman with a child's body danced with a middle aged man, doing the jitterbug as I remembered it from WW II.  When I asked a young man, 20-ish, to stop walking back and forth in front of the video camera, he was wild-eyed and kept looking at me saying, "Stop!  Stop!" in a desperate voice.  As soothingly as possible, I said, "Thank you for being thoughtful".  He stopped walked in front of the cameraman again though he continued a circular route, mumbling to himself that he must not walk in front of the camera..

An older couple in lawn chairs got up to dance.  The white-haired woman.had a lovely tanned body but staggered to walk.  She and her husband danced smoothly and she staggered back to her chair with a limp.  One third of the brick 'dance floor was taken over by less than 2 to 7 year olds whose bodies clearly responded joyously and most actively to the beat of yesteryear.  Pre-teen girls danced together swaying their tiny, undeveloped bodies as sensuously as they tried to imitate their elders.  A young and a much older man who appeared autistic in their movements stood right in front of the band and rocked left and right, in place, through several songs. Moms and Dads danced with their toddlers.  It was nothing one would have seen in a Club.

The music was wonderful, a superb band of great musicians who usually played for wealthier and older audiences, misleading people to think that young people wouldn't enjoy this music.  The moral:  Music is music; a rhythmic beat is contagious.   Offered at a price people can afford and accessible, there will always be a group whose bodies and ears will respond.  Someone just has to offer it as this city's Arts Council did for their homeless, challenged, seniors, children and parents, those who couldn't afford to go to fancy clubs, and those who could well afford more structure but enjoyed the beautiful summer night and music outdoors to stir memories, as well as those who found the music new because it is not what one hears often enough today.

THE TEAPARTIERS DID NOT DELIVER ON THEIR CAMPAIGN PROMISES

Wisconsin State politicians have been gloating over the mandate they thought they received at the last state legislative elections. The current Representatives and Senators act as though the electorate had adopted them rather than just voted them in for a short time.  Today, the voters had an opportunity to hear that the voters have changed their view of those currently in office. Even though they are acting like the State's mistress, they were not given carte blanche.

Brendan O'Brien wrote for Huffpost Politics:  While the House was passing the TeaPartiers 'cut, cap and balance' bill, the Democratic State Sen. Dave Hansen won the first Wisconsin Recall Election.of the three Democrats up for recall.the House Bill by Eyder Peralta:  described as  "The bill is unlikely to become law, because it now moves to the Democratic-controlled Senate. As It's All Politics reported, yesterday, the White House also threatened to veto the bill if it ever made it to the president's desk."

Elsewhere all eyes, now that Casey Anthony as a spectacle is through, all eyes and ears seem to be on the new soap opera on the media, the Murdoch story.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - Part 2

And so we say goodbye to the books that kept us thrilled for so many hours; goodbye to the expectation of the next book or the next film or both.  J. K. Rowling did what few other authors have done.  She has given us a story which will be new in a few years to a wholly different generation.

Amazingly, integrity of the books intact, Warner Brothers allowed the author's work to be presented as closely as the film media could do it faithfully.  The series does justice to the issues of good vs evil, represented by Lord Voldemort.  Seen in 3D, the movie is spectacular.  In the iMax theater with the Tempur-Pedic cushions and vibrations in the seat known to the theater as butt kickers, we, the audience were immersed in a life or death struggle so that the world would not be taken over by evil.  The burden lay solely on Harry Potter's back and his pain and fight is well choreographed and we felt the struggle with him emotionally and physically..

A little boy next to me had only seen from Episode 3 and up. He told me it was because he was only 3 years old then!  The image that popped into my head was that he would be watching  with his children in 20 or so years, seeing  the enhanced new version of the old Harry Potter series, just as so much science fiction has aged well through more than one generation..  Just as Indiana Jones will not age nor will Tolkien's Lord of the Ring be anything but a classic to be watched and prescribed reading in English or History classes..

Our lives are forever full of ridding ourselves of evil though we, unfortunately, have Barack Obama as our Harry Potter of 2011.  We must fight the evil of Grover Norquist, ALEC, Limbaugh, the Koch Brothers, and so many more.  They are our Dracos, and Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort...the once good guy turned totally evil.

Sometimes a pep talk on the subject of good versus evil through.fiction can be almost as stirring as living with today's politics on the same subject.

HOW GOOGLE HAS CHANGED OUR LIVES

"YouTube turns yesterday into today"  -Eve Welts

Can there be anybody who owns a computer who has not been on YouTube.  Google+ has shown us how open our world is to everyone.  Social Networking has made our lives an open book.  Granted, we could withhold permission, but those of us with nothing to hide (at least that we know of) grant Google the right to go into our computer and grab all our addresses and pictures.  We can even allow all our documents to be grabbed as well, allowing others as well as ourselves to get into them from anywhere.

While those may be risks to some, it may bring our own world to one place, both past and present, touching all of our friends and relatives whom we wish to touch.  With webcams, it has even become more personal than simple texting or keyboard tapping can produce.

We have put encyclopedia salesmen out of work as data would need to be changed too frequently for them to be practical anyway.  Today, typing a word or question gets you an instant answer,  even translating foreign phrases . Define a word; use a tutorial, watch videos of news, concerts, events, even TV shows you missed and so much more can be discovered using Google to find the resources.  Google even has a site for known problems and fixes.

There is even a site to tell you everything Google does.  Click here  If you are having trouble with Mozilla Firefox, try Google Chrome.  It handles videos much better.

Google is your friend Friday.  It will find recipes, resources, fixes, tips, and acts like a personal assistant only with more tact and discretion....at least from what we are shown

RUPERT MURDOCH: SLOWLY BEING EXPOSED TO THOSE HE KEPT CONNED FOR SO LONG.

It has taken a long time for the world begin to see Rupert Murdoch for what he really is.  He has lied and hired liars.  He has lied to influence elections.  He has gotten rich off the Right Wing moralizers, bribed, intimidated, and violated all journalism principles.  He has added great amounts to his wealth by publishing Christian literature.

A few days ago, Les Hinton and Rebekah Brooks, two top executives  of Murdoch's News Corp  staff in the UK, resigned.  For more on his, click here.  "A BBC article writes:
In a statement, Mr Hinton said: "I have watched with sorrow from New York as the News of the World story has unfolded.  I have seen hundreds of news reports of both actual and alleged misconduct during the time I was executive chairman of News International and responsible for the company.
"The pain caused to innocent people is unimaginable."".

One has to wonder how a reasonably intelligent group of people can have been fooled by  Murdoch's outfits for so long.  In the United States it has been "Fox Noise News"  has been a voters biggest disappointment.

Frank Schaeffer wrote for AlterNet:  "Rupert Murdoch is one of America’s number one publishers of evangelical and other religious books, including the 33-million seller Purpose Driven Life by mega pastor and anti-gay activist Rick Warren. Murdoch is also publisher of "progressive" Rob Bell’s Love Wins."

"But those same CBA stores gladly sell tens of millions of books -- annually -- published by Murdoch, a man with the moral rectitude of the herpes virus, a man who runs the companies that gave Glenn Beck a megaphone, that hacked a dead girl's phone, that lied about Iraq's involvement in 9/11, and thus contributed to the war-of-choice needless killing of almost 5000 American soldiers by George W Bush. "    For the entire article, click here.

While we bailed out corporations deemed 'Too big to fail'; some like the Murdoch empire should be deemed 'Too big to exist:.  We should have stuck  to our rules about not letting media outlets get too vast.'
