WHY ARE THE TEAPARTIERS CALLING THE MAJOR SHOTS?

This morning on MSNBC (Morning Joe), Zbigniew Brzezinski talked about the state of our country.  He, like so many others, pointed out the potential of the poor rising up against the 1% who hold 40% of the money, pay few taxes, while the poor pay great proportions of their income to tax.

There is little doubt in my mind that the militias which have been training for years will eventually draw in many less violent people who are 'fed up' with the current policy of not taxing the top 1% as they had been before G W Bush's administration lowered it to the present level.  The claim of 'no new taxes' is absurd.  The aim is to simply put it back as had been intended when it was lowered.

It is a shame that people have been voted into office with no knowledge of how to run a country and only their own biased views and pledges to a man not in government to guide them.  I have written before and repeat, anyone who has signed the pledge and is following it to Grover Norquist is guilty of treason according to the definition of the word.  At minimum, they have violated the oath the took when taking office.

THE CONS ARE ON EVERYWHERE...IT STARTS AT THE TOP

What happened to the supposed truth in advertising that is supposed to have been beefed up?  Or do the TV stations continue to take anything green that is flashed in front of them with no thought to what they are wishing on a stupid and unsuspecting public?  Google recently paid a large fine because it allowed drug ads from Canada or some such.

Nothing, however, bears the biggest con of all.  The Teapartiers who are telling you they understand 'God' better than you do and understand why he is wishing natural disasters onto us.  In a sense, religious leaders are advertising their product and trying to 'sell' it to the masses.  The regulations for truth in advertising suggest that:
  • Advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive;
  • Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims; and
  • Advertisements cannot be unfair.
Thus, given that criteria, people talking about religion cannot be truthful as what they are saying cannot be proven and often many representing religions have been deceptive, promising after-life; eternal damnation in the fires of Hell, 72 virgins after a martyrs death, and all sorts of promises that would make the worst, lying politician look good.

Campaign promises might even fall in this category.  Bachmann says she will see that gas will sell under $2 as gallon if she is elected.  It would be quite evident to anyone knowledgeable about how gas prices are set that it is impossible within the next four or five years to 'promise' that.  Secondly, it is not the Presidency that sets those prices.  Yet so many people do not see the falseness in her promises.

If you believe the Teapartiers and voted them in, you deserve what you got but the rest of us don't.deserve the inflicted pain by the power of the those ignorant of the Constitution, how government actually runs, how laws get passed, how amendments to the Constitution get made, and so many more aspects of what it takes to run a country.

WORDS THAT ADD A PICTURE TO THE MEANING

We all know the word to defecate, though one might wonder at my using it in the first sentence of this blog.  Our government is full of those who would take from others with no conscience about what happens to others.  A word for that action is defalcate. an intransitive verb meaning to misuse funds; to embezzle.  Metaphorically, those who practice this deception are defecating on the rest of us.

The rhetorically virtuous TeaPartiers, in spirit, with their obsession and commitment to allow their financial backers to keep corporate loopholes and pay fewer personal taxes than the middle class, are showing their contempt for the average citizen.  Hopefully, a time will come when the average citizen (by their vote) will be able to repay the contempt.

Those who write the urban dictionary are far more colorful than most school dictionaries would allow.  Thus, the expression they would use for this behavior might be this.  Why then, has this country been so placid about the Republican behaviors of obstruction and determination to get their way rather than think about the good of all the citizens they are presumably representing?  Even Standard &Poor's has noted the political stalemate and reflects it with their downgrade.  TeaPartiers, as far as I can see, what you are doing is slightly short of treason.  NPR reads the downgrade as a warning to end partisan politics as usual.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF VOTING AGAINST RATHER THAN FOR A KNOWN SOMETHING

The TeaPartiers sold lies to the public and under false promises were elected as a 'quick fix' to a problem that has no possible quick fix.  No matter how many times it is said that the economy had a surplus when Clinton left office and GW Bush took his whole two terms to spend with his Republican buddies either from stupidity, being duped by more evil forces, or a reason that has never been mentioned and is not clearly visible to those of us out of government or not economists.

A large group of freshman TeaPartiers promised to work on job creation and the budget. Adopting a policy of 'my way or the highway' they have sworn to make Obama a one term president, raise no new taxes, ignore all warnings from Federal economists, and have only pushed their own disparate agendas, mostly on religious and bigoted issues.

Boehner, speaker of the house, walked out in a gesture as immature as that of his colleague Eric Kantor. For more details, click here.

Like giving a child a privilege, they can't give it up[ even when all indication shows it is bad for them. They do not see that they couldn't handle what they had and resent it being taken away, forgetting it was a trial plam not a permanent one.

How long will the public tolerate elected officials who walk out of negotiations as though it is not a critical part of their job to negotiate and compromise.  It is my contention that the Republicans simply voted against the Democrats and bloated their numbers by adding the TeaPartiers who came in falsely by hanging onto their coat tails.in an attempt to legitimize themselves to get on the ballot when in fact, they are pretty much independent even of one another.

Other than the TeaPartiers, at least those of us whose head is not in the sand,  hope that enough of the House Members will realize that removing tax breaks from the wealthy is not ADDING new taxes.  Gtover Norqujist seemed a little slimy over that explanation.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY SEEMS TO BE IMPLODING

  • McCain calls Santorum dumb after hearing him say that McCain doesn't understand enhanced methods of torture.
  • Gingrich denies Ryan's fiscal plan and comments critically about the Right Wing's Social Engineering
  • It is discovered that there are many more than just the two Koch brothers.  In fact there has been a group, probably more than 300 in it) who have been planning and executing plans that circumvent elected governmental officials in charge.  Further discovered is that lobbyists have been writing legislation for some time now.  They are more effective than Karl Rove.
  • The above 'group' is behind the mid-West Republican governors  strange actions so in conflict with the wishes of their constituents.
  • Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, join others who have shot themselves in the political foot, so to speak.
  • TeaPartiers sneak as Republicans when they really see themselves as a fourth party, adding themselves to Democrats, Republicans, Independents and no TeaPartiers.
  • Rating awards for their 'Family Values'  (actually now the lack of family values) along with Vitter, Ensign, Edwards, Sanford, Spitzer, and, oh so many others, Schwartenegger adds himself to receive an award for hypocrisy.
  • Saki Knafo writes a brief summary of the long history of horny politicos.
  • While the sex scandals offer a minor diversion, the real problems facing us are 'Just who is running our country?'

THERE IS MORE THAN ONE LAST WORD

Tonight Lawrence O'Donnell, on his MSNBC show, invited the leaders of five separate groups of the Teapartiers. None claimed leadership roles.  Each said that the Teaparty does not  need leaders, that as a leaderless group they have done very well.  They believe their goals are consistent with one another. They all said they wished for smaller, less intrusive government, and less socialism yet none could readily name a socialist program they would cut.  They all agreed, finally, that subsidies were socialistic but did not readily consider health care and social security as such.  For this observer, it was difficult to muster respect and comfort that these people knew enough to lead the country in a productive direction.

These group leaders were a contrast to the people the media has focused on as representative of the Teaparty's chosen candidates for office.  This group did not sound fanatical, rather confused, naive, and somewhat like a small child who, without any real knowledge,  thinks they can simply solve a problem...no hint of sequelae to their actions.

The questions asked by the interviewers. is often as useless as asking, :"What would Jesus do?"  This was not at all what O'Donnell did   It was a show run by a real pro.  He kept his focus and disallowed their spewing rhetoric instead of direct answers to what he asked of them.  Following Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann,
Rachel Maddow, his show, The Last Word, is aptly named.  Welcome to our world which is ready to be brought some reality, truth, balance, and integrity.

REPUBLICAN LEADERS NOT TOO HAPPY ABOUT DELAWARE ELECTIONS

If people think one Republican is just like another Republican, they would be very much mistaken. In Delaware Christine O'Donnell is not seen as preferred candidate nor felt that she has a better chance of winning the election than her opponent.  If you are having difficulties understanding the platform on which the
Teapartiers stand, you are not alone.  The contradictions are mind boggling.  While fighting to make the government less intrusive and smaller in our lives, Christine O'Donnell wants the government to force females as young as 13, who are raped by strangers or incestuously, to bear the children as a result of those rapes.

Christine O'Donnell seems, by all I have searched on her, to violate the Constitution with her goals.  Wikipedia on O'Donnell says: "O'Donnell also served as a spokesperson for Concerned Women for America, a Conservative Christian political action group which seeks to apply biblical principles to issues of public policy."  I do not believe our Constitution has yet been amended to allow Christianity to rule the country.

Karl Rove finally was forced by the party to endorse O'Donnell but it doesn't erase his previous statements that she was an embarrassment to the party and was not likely to win.  It seems to me that  as long as the Teapartiers seemed 'against' the Democrats, it was missed that they were associated as being with' Republicans.  Voters in Arizona should also be advised that Sharron Angle is a disciple of Phyllis Schlafly.  When did we lose our sanity and our country?

WHISPERING IN THE WIND

Lots of suggestions are flying around but the false voices are drowning them out.  Sen Bob Graham of Florida decries the lack of responsibility not being fulfilled for the safety of the American people and the outrage of the American people is fully justified.    Meanwhile Michele Bachman Palin's clone for spewing and fostering hatred for this administration and pushing for a Revolution, is keeping the Teapartiers full of lies and calls to take our government back....the back to what is not clear?  Is it back to salve days?  Is it back to Bush/Cheney?  Or is it back to the First American Revolution, which is what it is beginning to sound like.  Today I heard a woman, caught on national TV, shouting Obama is a liar.  When did it become so fashionable to believe that a radio talk host or a Congresswoman knows everything that is truth in the government?

Admittedly, we stil have ignorant people believing that Obama is not an American citizen.  This makes it more believable to them that he has never run anything...certainly not as much as Sarah Palin, half-term governor!  Do people ever use the Internet to cross check facts?  Apparently not.

But the entire world is not full of hate.  Fran Drescher and her ex-husband of nearly 11 years are 'in love', and are about to have a TV show on their relationship.  Married for over 20 years, they divorced when he finally came out of the closet as gay.  They had known each other since they were 15 before they really knew enough to realize marriage would not be suitable for these two good friends.  To read about it more, click here.

WILL SOMEONE EXPLAIN THESE?

Who is writing Sarah Palin's speeches.  There is no way she has learned to think empirically in less than 2 years.
She gives (and for $100,000 a pop) a logical, if deceitful, plea.  The Teapartiers are an enigma to me.  Grassroots movements need 'fertilizer' just as lawns do to stay alive and healthy.  Yet, we, the public, aren't being shown leaders.  We are told that 70% voted for McCain and are Republicans but that, if one listens to accounts, varies with everyone who describes tham.

Most who know more than I do, on the inside of the Beltway , know that most people don't understand what the party to which they belong really stands for.  For a complete article on what seems to define them, click here.
The most prevalent beliefs are that they are being run by Fox and Corporate America.  Some of the News channels, or at least some of the talking heads, tell us a great deal about who is behind many things.  It would be helpful to all citizens and voters if more of that kind of exposure could be augmented.  I, for one, would like to know what is done with the product from Think Tanks.  Where do their monies come from?  Having watched the low profile Cheney run the last Administration, how many other low profile evil people are making the decisions that have just about ruined the country?  Whom can we trust for the truth?
