Many who have followed the career of this beautiful and talented girl since her childhood may have at one point envied her success. But, today, one can only feel sadness at her addiction and poor life choices she has made.
What does this say about the idols our children have tried to emulate? Ms. Loman has been an excellent actress. She can make her emotions project so well that her audience 'feels' whatever she is trying to portray. Yet, it her public persona, that which she has projected is a willful, selfish, troubled young woman with little respect for the values of our society. One can only wonder how she got to the place in her life where she can be so arrogant about the laws of society.
Paris Hilton is another who is to be pitied. Both woman reflect our society as giving special treatment to these monied, beautiful women. Since our media is now so 'in your face', the average American is confronted with the unevenness of our justice system. Our youngsters can see these women continue to thumb their noses (figuratively) at society, its rules, and perhaps the parental figures with whom they have never resolved their childhood issues. As difficult as it may be for them, drugs are not a solution. Paris Hilton is no longer a perfectly 'made-up' young woman who can prove that even if you are not born as the most beautiful woman, by features, money can get you to that point acceptably.
Lohan had great acting talent, while Paris has money as her major strength. Both made the mistake of behaving as 'naughty girls' which may have been cute in some circles, it is no longer so in the eyes of those who find the label 'felon' not to be admired. It is limiting to one's life, at best, and not a label most of us choose to wear or even with which to associate to ourselves..

Lohan will do more time, you'll see. Will it help? Perhaps, if it drives her to her addiction "bottom". I am sure the judge is not impressed by her beauty or money.
