OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT ALLOW MUCH PRIVACY OR SECRECY

Romney is flailing and using a single theme:  Obama is using attack ads.  Unfortunately there are Obama haters who will believe anything.  I just talked to one tonight who insisted he had given everything that was asked for by the campaigns.  The tragedy is that she believes it.  She also watches FOX.  She believes them, too.  What a tragedy that people are so biased that they will believe anything against Obama and everything for Romney even in the face of total fabrications, and inconsistencies.

One has to ask if the Republicans are falling apart.  Lawrence O'Donnell spoke tonight about Grover Norquist's loss of status and power.  Tom Coburn dared to vote and write against his pledge.  Coburn does not plan to run again. So far, Sheldon Adelson has made it clear that he will spend $100,000,000 to get Romney into the White House.  Do we know why?  Yes, because he stands to earn much more if he can get someone to pass bills that keep him for being prosecuted for illegal activities there.  For details, click here.

Is this another truth?  Norquist says Romney fully backs the pledge.  Is that what we need in the White House?  Really???

OUR MIND-READING MEDIA

It is quite upsetting to listen to the talking heads who state vehemently what, the rest of us can only guess at, is the reason Scott Brown was elected negating all the hope and reasoning that elected Obama just a year ago. They didn't get change fast enough so opt to return the policies, bigotry, discrimination and greed of the wealthy during the Bush administration back.

Drew wrote an interesting article in the
Huffington Post. He writes: It is a truly remarkable feat, in just one year's time, to turn the fear and anger voters felt in 2006 and 2008 at a Republican Party that had destroyed the economy, redistributed massive amounts of wealth from the middle class to the richest of the rich and the biggest of big businesses, and waged a trillion-dollar war in the wrong country, into populist rage at whatever Democrat voters can cast their ballot against.

All of this was completely predictable. And it was predicted. I wrote about it for the first time here on the sixth day of Obama's presidency, and many of us have written about it in the intervening year. For his complete article, click here.

Most of the explanations I have heard so far are as believable as Pat Robertson's conviction that the reason the Haitian earthquake had happened was because the Haitians had 'sold' their soul to the Devil 100 years ago to free themselves from France. However, the 'believers' have made Robertson a rich man as they have Limbaugh and many others who know how to touch the easily led; the people who don't dare think for themselves.

With patience, all will be laid out before us in time. I can only hope that Obama will give up waving the olive branch to the Right before the entire list that were the goals for which he was elected become history notes.

WHAT SEPARATED MCCAIN FROM LOWER AND MIDDLE CLASS REALITY?

For the first time in a very long time, the nightly news had an Amber Alert, and seven swimmers sucked in by dangerous waters creating an undertow, rather than a rehash of political news. I remain saddened that John McCain has resorted to such dirty politics for a man we had come to revere for his long suffering in capture while fighting for his country. While respecting what he had come through, I never thought it made him presidential material. Instead, I thought some of his work as a Senator might qualify him, but he has managed to disqualify himself with his present positioning on too many issues.

He accuses Obama of a political decision about the war rather than what is best for the country while he shows his ignorance of the thinking of the majority in the country by insisting that a family consists of a father and mother. He insisted on the George Stephanopoulos Show that, rather than have a gay couple adopt a child, he thought it better that the children stay in foster or institutional care. The man hasn't a clue to what he subjects children nor a clue to the wonderful children some of whom are being raised by a single parent or gay parents become.

Huffington Post: "At another point in the interview, McCain was asked to specify his position on gay adoption, an issue where the Senator's political leanings remain somewhat opaque. He did little to clear the air. McCain stumbled in his response and wouldn't answer the question definitively one way or the other. Also, after saying initially that the gay adoption issue was "not the reason I am running for President of the United States," he made an about-face, claiming,
"I'm running for president of the United States because I want to help with family values. I think family values are important when we have two parent families that are parents of the traditional family."

Instead of furthering an understanding of issues for which people should vote for him, he remains negative and gives his reasons why Obama should not get votes. It is a pity he didn't stick to what he said he would not do...negative campaigning Today he did a great deal to prove why he will not make a good President.

A COOL ECONOMY AND OTHER OBSERVATIONS

The economy is cooling and the job market is tanking. When will people realize that predictions by the government are too often wrong. Economists were predicting a rise in jobs by 60,000. Instead, 17,000 jobs were lost. That is a rather significant figure and does not bode well for the predictors. In fact, one can hardly trust the government, Wall Street, banks, underwriters, CEOs, and the list goes on way too far to try to list all.

In a speech in Kansas on Friday, President George Bush acknowledged that the US economy was going through a rough patch and urged lawmakers in Washington to pass an economic stimulus package.

Wouldn't it have been kinder to the public to have warned people a long time ago not to believe the lies coming out of Washington. As Groucho Marx said it so well, :

“Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?”

“I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.”

John Ridley wrote: "Rush Limbaugh grandly announced on his radio program that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this coming election cycle, as none pass his conservative litmus test. " You may choose to read the whole article or not, but this is the last paragraph: "There is, then, a reason why Limbaugh announced so grandly that he would not endorse any candidate. Not, I suspect, because there truly wasn't a candidate he could back. Rather because even if he did, probably no one would care."
