THE LAST DELAY FOR TOM DELAY

Corruption has been so rife in the Republican party but, assisted so heavily by the 'Rush Limbaughs' and radio and media support, the public has been fooled for years,. and continues today.  Mr. DeLay, known as 'the Hammer' for his power tactics and strong arming, indicted in 2006, has consistently denied wrongdoing but it had been clear for a very long time that he held power and his ethics and consideration for honesty were flawed.  While he was forced to step down as Speaker, he managed to get publicity (and money) by being on  Dancing with the Stars.  It was DeLay's misfortunes that opened the path for John Boehner to become the next Republican Speaker.

An article published in Austen, Texas, by James C McKinley, Jr. reads:  "Tom DeLay, one of the most powerful and divisive Republican lawmakers ever to come out of Texas, was convicted Wednesday of money-laundering charges in a state trial, five years after his indictment here forced him to resign as majority leader in the House of Representatives."  He was indicted for violating campaign finance laws.  His power as Speaker of the House was massive.  He restructured districts to help his party win seats.

Today's finding of guilty raised hope in me that finally not all lies were believed nor those in disagreement powerless to react against them.  I've too often wondered why the Obama administration is seeming so absent in decrying the lies against the Democrats.  I can only hope there is a master plan somewhere and those bumper sticker that read 'I Voted for Obama - My Bad' will be torn off all vehicles.  People are expecting too much from a human being who has Republicans opposing everything he suggests and needs to make most Americans' lives improve.  McConnell runs a tight ship.  One can only hope that
Americans who voted for so many untried Republicans will come to their senses by the next election and reverse the damage.  Dare I hope that our country will leave the grips of those multi-billionaires who have seized control of it?

WALK OF FAME FOR ENTREPRENEURS SUGGESTED IN CAMBRIDGE, MA

Too often our immature society values only entertainers and sports figures.  Now a professor at MIT. Bill Aulet,  has come up with an idea to celebrate the brains in so many local business and scientific geniuses.  Mitch Kapor  is a first nominee.  For those unfortunate enough not to know who he is, read his biography here.  (He founded Lotus Development Corporation) in 1982. 

Aulet requests suggestions for more who might be considered for this walk of fame. One I would heartily recommend is Amar G. Bose, Founder of Bose Corporation.  Arthur D. Little, Alfred P. Sloan, Jr. and many, many more.  I would hope it would not be limited to just MIT grads because I'd like to see Dean Kamen on that list. 

Ray Kurzweil is yet another who should make this list. He was even a part of MIT.  His educational and music systems are phenomenal. With the seeming brain dead people who populate too much of our political system,  we can see that something should be done to change that.  Obviously. when one searches the current crop of candidates, it is clear that they are not MIT grads nor grads of any highly disciplined academic institution with rare exceptions, like Obama who made it to the top.  So them to see. We don't hear as much about the people who make the great medical, scientific and technological breakthroughs by reading PEOPLE magazine and SPORTS NEWS.

Yet those who make in those seldom noted fields outside their own areas are viewed as lucky.  We know that luck is defined as the place where opportunity and preparation meet.  Unfortunately agents and publicists don't create geniuses.

WHEN DID GRASSLEY LOSE HIS TOUCH WITH HIS CONTITUENTS

Conclusions reached on little data seem to boggle the mind of anyone who has been taught to view results of research closely to determine exactly what the results do tell us. Senator Grassley is clearly not a researcher. A recent article in the Washington Post by Lon Montgomery and Perry Bacon, Jr. states: "After being besieged by protesters at meetings across his home state of Iowa, Grassley said he has concluded that the public has rejected the far-reaching proposals Democrats have put on the table, viewing them as overly expensive precursors to "a government takeover of health care." To me, his illogical conclusions prove that he cannot function rationally, logically, or intelligently as a Senator. That bit of conclusion leaping does not reflect careful, empirical thinking.
