SPEAKER BOEHNER GETS A NOD

At last, someone who used to work with Bohner and feels he owes him nothing, doesn't fear him, is willing to share his impressions with the media.  Catalina Camia has written an article for USA Today about Ney's aook  Sideswipe in which Bob Ney accuses Boehner as full of false claims. 

She writes  "There was a time when House Speaker John Boehner and Bob Ney were friends. Those days are long gone. Boehner pushed back hard Thursday on allegations made by the former Ohio congressman in his new book. Among other things, Ney wrote that Boehner "was a chain-smoking, relentless wine drinker who was more interested in the high life — golf, women, cigarettes, fun and alcohol."

Ney, a Republican like Boehner, resigned from Congress in 2006 after pleading guilty to charges in the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal. Ney spent 11 months in prison for his role in the scandal, considered one of the most far-reaching in Washington. Twenty people were convicted, but Ney was the only lawmaker in the group.

"This is a disgraced congressman who went to jail who has made a lot of
 baseless and false accusations to sell a book," Boehner said about his former Ohio colleague. "It's sad." "

Politico has also published an article in which they state that the book, says Ney, is nopt about revenge as Boehner claims. Click here to read more.   Ney told Politico: "I view it as my way to really give the picture of the intricacies of what happened. Nobody’s going to die over this. Nobody’s going to melt down. I have nothing to lose at this time in my life, so I can tell my version, which I feel has accuracy to it. I’m not out at this point in my life to convince somebody.”

Given that 80% of those leaving Elected office in Washington become lobbyists, maybe jail is not a bad alternative, most of the fallen seem to be able to rise like the Phoenix.

Today our President made it clear that it was his personal opinion that LGBTs should be permitted marriage.  He seems to have evolved this opinion by realizing that all citizens should have equal rights not to be determined by one group's religious beliefs.  It saddens me that the courts are so bloated that it is unlikely that all the cases fighting for equal rights will not get to see their law suits heard before the election.  This touches the number of voters who will be able to cast their votes.  There seems to be no way the Republicans will allow fairness or adherence to the rights of voters. Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, NJ spoke brilliantly that the issue is not an LGBT issue nor are there racial issues of discrimination.  It is about adhering to the fourteenth amendment making American citizens' equal.

Our politicians are ignoring all rules of conduct and proper procedure of their office.  When Boehner let a religious group use Statuary Hall , he violated the proper usage for that venue.  We taxpayers are expected to pay for the Hall that allowed a speaker who tells the group that AIDS was given us as punishment for the sinful choices of homosexuals.

Why is there no action on a Federal level for the violations of the separation of church and state when elected officials of the legislature denies such a constitution requirement exists. If our elected representatives (which I take means to represent their constituents) are defying the wishes of their majority, they should be impeached..If they believe that employees not doing their jobs should be fired, they too should expect the same treatment.

JOHN BOEHNER OFF TO A VERY BAD START

The Republicans did everything they could to rid the House of Nancy Pelosi and failed to do so.  Speaker Pelosi will go down in history as one of the most efficient and effective Speakers we have ever had.  This is hardly what is being said about Speaker Boehner. Three bills have failed to pass; bills the Republicans had put up.  He seems not to check his facts and misstates.  The worst one recently being to announce that there have been 250,000 government jobs added under Obama.  The truth is, moving to keep up with the growth in our population and add appropriately as has always been done, there have only been 58,000 jobs; quite within usual, past .practice.

Ruth Marcus summarizes Boehner's recent remarks.  David Gregory asked him, on Meet the Press on 2/13/11, why he doesn't correct the many Republicans who still think that Obama is not a citizen nor a Christian...both false assumptions or beliefs.  His response was to say he is not responsible to correct how people think.  I find this difficult to understand, having heard his shouting at political audiences like a Gospel preacher discussing the fury of God.  To read this article in full from the Washington Post, click here.

When his own party is feeling let down with his leadership, one wonders when the fan will be hit.  One of the things he does, with gusto, is criticize Obama.  However, he offers little of himself other than biased, politicized opinions which he misrepresents as the will of 'the American people'.  I often wonder what he would do if he was really confronted with what the American people think, in fact.  Perhaps he is under the delusion that the Republicans and Tea Partiers represent the majority of the the 'American people'.
