I've been convinced for years that, while I am not typical, nor am I alone in my thinking and feeling about things.  Recently I have stopped watching the major news (which really aren't) channels because I have wearied of listening to media time being given to so many who do nothing but tell the world what they would do if they were present, though that is not what they admit to doing.  The world could be falling apart, but as long as panels require less work from production staff, they will probably be the word of the day just as 'reality' shows are to commercial fodder for the masses.  Spoken of as 'our all-star roundtable' we get to hear arrogant speaker after egotistical speaker who thinks they have worth by telling what they would do if they were President or, if that is even beyond them, have the temerity to tell the sitting President how to do his job!

Another on which I rant is that these self-called 'journalists' (but who aren't, really,) were paying off gambling debts on the elections on Fox News today.  It was an anathema for me to have been on Fox News at all, in the first place.  The second shock was what I saw, renewing my reasons for staying away from that channel which is like the black plague to me.  Have they no shame?  Apparently not.  Even though when they paid their debts off, the money went to charity.  But it was arrogant to giver away such large sums as a game when so many people are out of work.  He grandly paid off a $1000 lost bet in the amount of $10,000, writing the check as he said he was happy to pay because it was a donation to Doctors Without Borders.  Did he really have to do that before the poor millions in the country?  I doubt he would even understand the criticism of 'lack of sensitivity'.  Another big payer was John Stosssell and a third was a beautiful blonde whom I would not have recognized, since I rarely watch the channel, having promised myself a fast death rather than the slow death viewing Fox would give me.

News Channels have sunk to being gossip channels with people speculating with as much accuracy as predicting (without an ultrasound ) the sex of an unborn child!!

THE FOX NOOSE CHANNEL

It is amazing that 'Fair and Balanced' has been such effective camouflage for the NewsCorp of Fox News kindred.   While Glenn Beck was busy showing charts of contributions to and from the DNC. he simply neglected to mention that News Corp was not mentioning that they had given one million dollars, yes that is $1,000,000.  One can hardly consider that a token donation.  There is also no record of the 'fair and balanced' equal donation to the Democrats. " The contribution from Mr. Murdoch’s News Corporation, which owns Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and other news outlets, is one of the biggest ever given by a media organization, campaign finance experts said."  The entire article can be read here. 

That money would have been better spent giving it to the servicemen who tonight left Iraq, many of them simply to move to Afghanistan to continue to risk their lives and have some of them die or get maimed.  It sounded so wonderful on MSNBC tonight to hear that all but the 50,000 troops to stay on as peace keepers and teach and train.

Meanwhile, the Fox News channel has a noose around the American people who listen and believe their propaganda.

Jon Stewart and the Daily Show have long since entertained us but, more importantly they have informed by their exposing of hypocrisy and lies. on Stewart committed a lengthy opening segment to President Obama's speech in the Middle East last night. He explored the expectations of our president at home and abroad, looked a the rhetoric he used both to further the tenuous relationship America has with even its closest allies in the region and the rhetoric he used to ensure that no one thought he was caving on protection for Israel, advancement for women and an end to terror.

Then he got to the funny part: Fox News' crazypants coverage of the same events. The conservative news network had talking heads and anchors alike on air saying Obama buys in to extremism, that he's disingenuous, that he threw the intel community under the bus. Stewart responded to them by saying, "What a torture it must be for such pretty people to see such ugly things."

...AND I MISSED THE SHOW!

It is rare for me to miss a Daily Show. However, I missed one that would have delighted me to see it when it happened. The magic of the media that can reproduce it the day after, in video form, is wonderful so, for those of you who also missed it, here it is.

"The highlight of last night's Daily Show was the moving send-off that Stewart gave career Fox News doormat Alan Colmes." The musical tribute was well-earned by a man who should consider himself as having the patience of Job. I would strongly urge all readers to glance at the article but, especially, look at the video. Of course it is all ridiculous and sarcastic, but one must wonder what it takes to make people feel they want to handle their feelings that way, and for the rest of us to understand it.

Personally, in my decision to spend the rest of my life feeling as good as it is possible in this world, I have cut Fox News out of my viewing diet. After watching a few like Hannity, Coulter, and Rove, my view of the world tends to turn to dark brown, a color whose image in my brain insults my olfactory sense and has me quickly wanting to throw things at the video screen. I used to talk at the screen but my profanity vocabulary was too limited to make it satisfactory. They just went on to more of their unfair and imbalanced proselytizing opinions. Since I am also a confirmed 'non-violent person', I channel surf to more quiet places like the History Channel or National Geographic. I would rather watch WWII pictures. At least I know how that story ends and that the good guys won!
