DO NOT VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL NOT RESPECT OUR CONSTITUTION.

Pope Benedict is warning against gay marriages.  :The Pope warned of "powerful political and cultural currents seeking to alter the legal definition of marriage.". Further in the article on BBC News, was written:  "Timothy Dolan, the New York archbishop who was recently made a cardinal by the Pope, was prominent in that campaign and spoke out during 2011 against the spread of same-sex marriage laws. In September 2011, shortly after New York passed legislation, he wrote to President Obama criticising a decision not to support a federal ban on same-sex marriage. In the letter, the then-Archbishop Dolan said the White House's policy could "precipitate a national conflict between Church and state of enormous proportions"."

I find the Catholic church's attempt to change the understanding of our United States Constitution particularly offensive.  The church may speak to its followers but it may not, a s a tax-free, religious organization, interfere with the running of our country and our laws.  I resent the lack of respect to those of us who are not of Catholic faith and the lack of respect to our President for allowing new laws for the majority of voters who have asked for and supported the changes. Years ago, we had a Catholic priest, Father Drinan. as a Senator.  Wikipedia writes on Father Drinan: "Throughout Drinan's political career, his consistent support of abortion rights drew significant opposition from Church leaders, who had also repeatedly requested that he not hold political office in the first place.^[2][4] Drinan attempted to reconcile his position with official Church doctrine by stating that while he was personally opposed to abortion, considering it "virtual infanticide,"^[5] its legality was a separate issue from its morality. This argument failed to satisfy his critics. According to the Wall Street Journal, Drinan played a key role in the pro-choice platform becoming a common stance with politicians in the Kennedy family.^[6]  In 1980, Pope John Paul II unequivocally demanded that all priests withdraw from electoral politics. Drinan complied and did not seek reelection.^[2] "'It is just unthinkable,' he said of the idea of renouncing the priesthood to stay in office. 'I am proud and honored to be a priest and a Jesuit. As a person of faith I must believe that there is work for me to do which somehow will be more important than the work I am required to leave.'"^[7]"

^{That Drinan was pulled out of the Senate while  Drinan was faithfully following the Constitution, made clear his church did not want him to do follow the oath of office he had taken.  We have a man running for president of the US, former Senator Santorum, who publicly states that he does not believe in separation of church and state,   It puzzles me whether this means that everyone who is voting for him agrees in violating the constitution (though they claim to be wanting stricter adherence to it and want government intruding less in our personal lives though some vote for intruding into women's wombs against medical necessity and without women's permission.)  Beware.  Whom you vote for may make your life a lot worse than you can imagine.}

REMINDER: OUR GOVERNMENT IS BY THE PEOPLE

Despite our US constitution requiring separation of church and state, we are being turned from democracy to an hagiocracy.  

People who believe they talk to God are now passing legislation on that basis and as Michele Bachmann has stated, she is running for the presidency because of her calling from God.  I do not want a country run by people who hear voices (other than their own) in their head.  For too many years I worked in a psychiatric facility which taught me that most of the people who talk to God directly are bipolar.  In the unlikely event that we have an emergency in our country that requires critical logic and an awareness of consequences to us all, I would like to have a President who thinks it out and knows the human advisers to contact, when necessary.

The world is fast growing in the number of Atheists it can count.  We do not adhere to the slogan In God We Trust.  This is a world in which man must develop skills, be educated to whatever job is being done, and make decisions on the basis of the world in 2011 and what it calls for.  Fig leaves, apples, and disbelief in evolution have no place in our governmental decisions.

Those politicians passing bills that limit abortion (a right accepted by Federal law), those who support the killing of physicians who legally perform abortions, those who are trying to redefine when life begins even prior to contraception by forbidding the use of contraceptives have no legal place serving as public servants as they clearly have no plan to follow our Federal laws or Constitution.   With so many needs to be attended to by our government, such as job creation and balancing a budget that ensures our survival as a country, these issues on which I wrote may not be at the top of the priority list.  Do we need to sit back and wait for Obama to do it all?  Where are the dissenting voices?  Why does the media not make more sources known where people can be heard to fight these Luddites who are too powerful due their election to office in our government?

LIFE HAS TURNED INTO ANOTHER SOAP OPERA

It finally became clear that the major reason I find the media so disquieting is that they treat the news like the previews to an exciting serial. There is rarely a finish, inevitable for most of the stories since there is no end to war, the recession, a bad economy, and fights among those who think they are empowered or are angling to become so.

Today, an anniversary of the Berlin Wall being brought down, brought out history as well as today's state of the world. Korea is fighting with itself; Pakistan is where Al Qaeda is but we can't fight there so we are fighting Bin Laden in Afghanistan, though we know he is not there and no one admits why we really ARE there still..

The Republican party is in danger of splitting itself off into two parts. (I remember my Latin telling me that 'All Gaul was divided into three parts!_The Republicans sure have gall. (gall 1 (gôl)n. 1. See bile. 2. a. Bitterness of feeling; rancor. b. Something bitter to endure: the gall of defeat.
3. Outrageous insolence; effrontery.) The few moderate Republicans still in existence are finally rising up and realizing that their party has been hijacked by total impostors though they haven't yet figured out what to do about it after eight years of just rubber-stamping Bush.

The Catholic Church is not staying out of Washington and politics; it is trying to dictate how the rest of us should conduct our lives. So much for separation of church and state. The Pro-Lifers (at least for life that has not yet started) are trying to dictate their way to doing away with Roe v Wade.

Members of the House are trying to legislate a group of new overseers to banks and the amount of 'bonus' they can dole out. I suppose it should be filed under 'Better late than never' that they notice how banks have been robbing the public and shareholders for so many years.

We need to figure out a new definition for Independent voters since Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman seem not to fit under the same umbrella. My block to remembering Lieberman's name was cleared when I finally was able to associate him to Quisling.

Rupert Murdoch had an employee who reports that Murdoch hired people to destroy Obama's presidency and make him a failure. This is the kind of man we allow to control so much of the media brainwashing on Fox stations and the rest of Rupert's media empire. We are, and have been for two of Bush's terms in office, experiencing a governmental malfunction. It will take more than hair pins and duct tape to put things back together.

The state of the world used to be anxiety provoking. Now it seems just another unbelievable soap opera. The desire to fast forward through the commercials is now felt through the entire show.
